My Top 5 Lip Colours For Autumn & Winter

Friday, 18 April 2014

With a change in season, generally comes a change in the colours we reach for to use to paint our pretty little faces. In the cooler months I tend to lust after deeper more dramatic shades of colour. This is definitely no exception when it comes to my lip colour choices.

Today, I share with you my top 5 lip colour choices for this Autumn and Winter.

Illamasqua Lipstick in 'Maneater'*.
Illamasqua Maneater.

Illamasqua's Maneater is a classic cherry red lipstick with slight blue undertone, and a matte finish. This shade is perfect for a miserable rainy day or night when you want to instantly brighten your face up or your mood.

Illamasqua Maneater retails for $25 AUD (4g). Get yours from your nearest Illamasqua counter or the Illamasqua online store.

M.A.C Matte Lipstick in 'Diva'.
M.A.C Diva.

Every time I wear this lipstick I without a doubt am asked what lipstick I am wearing. I usually I wear this for when wanting to go for a sultry look, teamed with big lashes and dramatic eyeliner.

M.A.C Diva lipstick is the most beautiful deep berry wine colour that doesn't drag on application like other M.A.C Matte lipsticks.

M.A.C lipsticks retail at $36 AUD (3g). Pick one up from your nearest M.A.C store or counter.

M.A.C Matte Lipstick in 'Please Me'.
M.A.C Please Me.

This is an absolute everyday favourite of mine all year round. It is a 'your lips but better' kind of colour that makes the simplest makeup look put-together.

I don't actually know how many times I have repurchased this shade, that's how many times I have bought it.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in 'Shameless'.
Revlon Shameless.

Ah ma gawd! As soon as I set my eyes on this colour I just knew that it had to be mine! This is a new addition to my collection. Revlon Shameless is a stunning true berry purple. Wear this day or night when you want to wear a statement lip that has berry tones but isn't dark.

This Colorburst Matte Balm doesn't drag or feel dry on the lips like most matte lip products; it actually feels very moisturising and comfortable to wear.

Revlon Colorburst Balms retail for $17.95 AUD (2.7g). Pick one up from your local Priceline, Myer, Target, Big W, or drugstore.

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in 'Whimsical'.
Revlon Whimsical.

I was put off by this colour at first, as when you open the lid it looks really glittery; something I would prefer not to wear. But I was pleasantly surprised when I swatched it on my hand that it was not the case (so I bought it, obviously!).

I reach for this colour when I want to wear something with berry tones that allows my lips to 'pop' a bit more and makes my lips look glossy and voluptuous.
