Product Teaser & Review: Rimmel BB Cream Matte

Wednesday, 19 March 2014

Introducing the newest member of the Rimmel Matte finish family, Rimmel BB Cream Matte. This product is a matte version of a BB (beautifying balm) cream, which tend to be more dewy.

I love to wear BB creams alone on days where I feel like I don't really want to wear makeup but need a little something to even out skin tone, or as a primer when I want fuller coverage than usual.

Rimmel BB Cream Matte.

The 9 benefits Rimmel claims the Rimmel BB Cream Matte to have:
  1. Minimises the appearance of pores.
  2. Evens skin tone.
  3. Mattifies.
  4. Controls shine all day.
  5. Smoothes.
  6. Comforts.
  7. Conceals dark circles.
  8. Helps prevent blemishes.
  9. Gives all day coverage.

What I think:
While this cream does a lot of what it promises, what it doesn't do is keep shine controlled all day. But in saying that, what does? Nothing for me personally (so I won't hold it against them too much).

In terms of preventing blemishes and soothing the skin, this BB cream does have lots of properties that assist in these. I would have to wear this a lot more to give an honest opinion on this, and I feel everyone will react differently to this.

Rimmel BB Cream Matte.
  • Blends really well.
  • The longevity is great.
  • It kept my shininess at bay more than other foundations designed to mattify.
  • Its price point is affordable.
  • Coverage is build-able.
  • It's non comedogenic (won't clog your pores).

  • It sets quickly when you don't wear a primer or moisturiser under it, so you must be quick with your application and blending.
  • It is only available in 3 colours (light, medium, and medium/dark), so colour match is limited.

All up, if you are looking for an affordable BB cream with build-able coverage, this is worth a try; just don't purchase it with the mindset that it will keep you free from oil all day long because it probably wont. Available April 2014 for $12.95 (30ml) from Priceline, Target, Kmart, BIG W, Coles, Woolworths, and selected pharmacies.

Will you be giving this a go?
What is your favourite Rimmel product I just have to try?
