February Favourites 2014

Saturday, 1 February 2014

And the 5 products that made the cut this month, in no particular order are...

1. Hoola Box 'o' Powder by Benefit Cosmetics.
Hoola Box 'o' Powder has featured in my monthly favourites before. Since then I somehow let it slip into the back of my bronzer drawer; thankfully I rediscovered it again!

Hoola Box 'o' Powder by Benefit Cosmetics.

Because Hoola Box 'o' Powder has a matte finish not only is it perfect for a natural looking bronzed finish, but you can contour with it too. This is because bronzer with a shimmer or frosty finish is not appropriate for contouring as it reflects the shadow you are trying to create.

Hoola is really pigmented so this product is going to last a really long time. I know its weird that it comes in a cardboard box, but it is designed this way to stop the packaging breaking and the product itself shattering if you drop it.

See my full review here to get the insight into why I love it so much!

Hoola Box 'o' Powder by Benefit Cosmetics retails for $51 AUD (8 grams). Pick yours up at your local Benefit counter.

2. M.A.C Satin Taupe Eye shadow.
This little guy scored the last available spot in my M.A.C 15 Eye Shadow Pro Palette.

M.A.C Satin Taupe Eyeshadow.

Satin Taupe is a beautiful frost finished eye shadow that can look more purpler, browner, or greyer depending on what colours it is paired with. This colour works amazingly with so many different colours, trust me!

On a lazy day, wear this alone with some eyeliner and still look like you have made an effort!

3. Illamasqua Nail Varnish in 'Throb'*.
I am craving winter so so much now, and I can already tell this nail polish is going to quite a big feature on my paws come Autumn and Winter. Its such a beautiful deep blood red!

Illamasqua's 'Throb' Nail Varnish wears well. One coat provides full coverage and it is super chip-resistant.

I really don't think photos do this shade justice one little bit! The picture below is how Illamasqua's 'Throb' Nail Varnish looks after two coats, with no topcoat. It's so shiny all by itself!

I love Illamasqua Nail Varnish; if you haven't tried them you need to! Grab yours from Myer for $22 (15ml).

4. Benefit They're Real! Mascara.
I am yet to try anything better than this for amazing lashes, and yes I genuinely mean anything. This stuff is a must have for those obsessed with mascara (like me).

Benefit They're Real! Mascara.

Read my full review Benefit They're Real! Mascara here.

Benefit They're Real! Mascara retails at $38 AUD (8.5 grams). Pick yours up at your local Benefit counter.

5. Lush 'The Comforter' Bubble Bar.
Lush may be over-exaggerating a little, but they have pretty much hit the nail on the head describing The Comforter experience:

This fruity bubble bar gives the feeling of being hugged by a jolly blackcurrant. When life is getting you down, crumble The Comforter under hot, running water, for purple water and creamy bubbles. The warm aroma of cassis absolute is relaxing so relaxing that you'll go to bed feeling happier and the world will seem brighter the next day.

Lush 'The Comforter' Bubble Bar.

Note: the bubble bar pictured above is smaller than the individual product itself. This one was part of a gift box and is a smaller version.

I make this product go further buy cutting it into 4 pieces; that way I get 4 amazing bath time experiences out of the 1 bubble bar. Genius, I know!

Grab your 'The Comforter' Bubble Bar for $10.50 (200g) from Lush.

Have you tried any of these? What were your beauty favourites for the month of February?

Note: All opinions are my own.

  3. I only have a mini of Hoola (from the Benefit Advent calendar) and I think I'm going to need a full size once it's gone! Love that stuff!!

  4. For starters, I am very jealous you got your hands on the advent calendar! Very cool and hard to get in Australia!

Hoola is amazing. It lasts soooo long. I am also yet to come across someone who doesn't like it.
